Hi partners ,
I prepared a CD-Rom containing all files of our project, and a Powerpoint presentation showing all activities we've done. It will be sent to your schools next week.
Best regards from France.

Symmetry in Kaleidoscope Designs
A kaleidoscope is a tube containing colored
beads or pieces of glass and carefully placed mirrors. When you hold a
kaleidoscope up to your eye and turn the tube, you see colorful symmetric
patterns.
The
kaleidoscope was patented in 1817 by the Scottish scientist Sir David Brewster.
Brewster was intrigued by the science of nature. He developed kaleidoscopes to
simulate the designs he saw in the world around him.
The kaleidoscopes are excellent
examples of rotational symmetry. Objects have rotational symmetry if you
can rotate them around a centre point through any angle of 0 to 360 degrees and
the object still looks the same. We can describe objects with rotational
symmetry by the number of times the object looks the same when you rotate it
around. This is called the order of symmetry.
Today the students from Anna Vasa School have worked on their own kaleidoscopes using GeoGebra - we could simulate a kaleidoscope, starting with one point.

Field trip to the Villa Ephrussi
French pupils have gone on a field trip to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. It was on Friday, 25th May. They enjoyed to discover the wonderful gardens of the Villa, and to see French gardens in real.
There is a Powerpoint presentation following the link:

The parcel from Poland is in Draguignan
Last week we sent the parcel to Collège J.
Rostand in Draguignan (France) with some small gifts – a book
about Poland in English, a film about Szafarnia – a small village near
Golub-Dobrzyń where Chopin used to spend his holidays when he was young. There
were also some sweets for all students and small gifts for the winners of the logo
contest.
Today we had the information the parcel is in Draguignan. We hope you
like our surprise.

Symmetrical Paper Cut-Outs from Poland
Wycinanki
are Polish decorative paper cut-outs which are regarded by many as the most
beautiful in the world.
They
were used to decorate the walls of ceiling beams in countryside cottages and
given as gifts to family members and friends. The colorful cut-outs of flowers,
circles and stars with a symmetrical arrangement reflect a particularly high
level of artistry.
The polish
students prepared own symmetrical wycinanki- cut-outs some weeks ago and
now are preparing an exhibition with their works.
